Project Type: Film (Marvel Studios)

Role: Costume Styling Support

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

I contributed to the costume development process for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever through my role at Ozwald Boateng.

This involved supporting the preparation of garments for Isaach De Bankolé and Angela Bassett.

The collaboration required pieces that aligned with:

• Character identity and narrative

• Cultural representation and symbolism

• Specific scene requirements

Garments were selected from an unreleased collection, requiring precision in both styling and preparation before being delivered to the film’s costume team.

Role & Contribution

• Styling Assistant (Brand Side)

• Garment Selection Support

• Fit Preparation & Coordination

• Fit Model Styling & Adjustments

• Pre-Shoot Garment Development

Process

My role focused on ensuring garments were ready for on-screen use:

• Dressing fit models to test sizing and silhouette

• Refining looks before submission to production

• Preparing outfit foundations for on-set styling teams

• Supporting the selection of pieces aligned with character tone

This stage was critical in ensuring accuracy before the garments reached set.

Character & Styling Direction

For Isaach De Bankolé (River Tribe Elder):

• Use of West African-inspired patterns

• Clean, structured silhouettes

• Balance of tradition and elegance

Character & Styling Direction

For Angela Bassett (Queen Ramonda):

• Development of the “Hope Flower” patterned garment

• Symbolism rooted in faith, mourning and strength

• Monochrome palette reflecting emotional narrative

The pattern design drew on cultural and symbolic references, reinforcing the depth of the character.

Creative Approach

The styling direction was centred on:

• Cultural authenticity

• Symbolic detailing through fabric and print

• Elevated, regal silhouettes

• Alignment with character emotion and storyline

Each garment contributed to the visual storytelling of identity, heritage and status.

Output

• On-screen costume appearances within the film

• Custom garments developed from unreleased collection

• Contribution to character-driven costume design

This project reflects my experience supporting high-level film costume production, working within a structured design process from concept to on-screen execution.

It highlights my ability to contribute within a team, ensuring garments are considered, prepared and aligned with narrative before reaching set.
